one of the great projects that they have at the moment is  WOPR- Whole of paddock Rehabilitation.

Read more about it here.

In need of a paddock makeover?

WOPR is an innovative approach to environmental restoration that incorporates production and conservation. Funded through the Australian Government’s Caring for Our Country program (and delivered by Greening Australia), graziers volunteer a paddock of at least 10 ha for restoration. They then receive the support of stewardship payments to offset some of the temporary production loss. The paddock is rested from production for five years and locally native trees and shrubs are established by direct seeding in widely spaced belts on the contour – returning around 25% of the paddock to deep-rooted perennial vegetation. After five years, the grazier can re-introduce stock to the paddock under a rotational grazing system. All of this can be achieved with little or no fencing costs.

60 farmers are taking part already with fantastic results and funding is about to end – DON’T MISS OUT!!!

The Rivers of Carbon project

‘Rivers of Carbon’ is an exciting new initiative working in partnership with landholders, the Lachlan Catchment Management Authority, Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority, and other organisations in the Southern Tablelands to link native vegetation and previously rehabilitated sites to form intact riparian corridors – creating ‘rivers of carbon’.

The project is funded through the Australian Government’s Clean Energy Future Biodiversity Fund, and is a collaboration between the Australian River Restoration Centre and Greening Australia Capital Region. The project builds on the fantastic work that has already been done on river sites throughout the upper Murrumbidgee and Upper Lachlan. Read more about Rivers of Carbon…
