Tips and Ideas to Support Young People to Create Change
In conjunction with Intrepid Landcare we are hosting an "Intrepid Way" workshop in Goulburn on Wednesday 12th September.
Intrepid Landcare are notorious for having fun, inspiring young people and being a dynamic bunch of go getters!! How do they do it??
The workshop aims to upskill people from a range of Landcare and environmental organisations to engage young people. The workshop will focus on developing a collaborative approach to co-designing and delivering projects that are appealing to a younger generation.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP?
Our primary audience is Landcare coordinators and other facilitators of environmental initiatives, but we would also like to include Landcare committee members, staff from other organisations, youth officers, and anyone who is interested in engaging and supporting young people in the community to lead on local environmental issues.
Some organisations might also like to send youth representatives to the workshops so there is youth representation.
Workshops will run from: 9 AM – 4.30 PM.
Please arrive at 8.45 AM for a 9 AM sharp start.
RSVP essential - places are limited!
Ruth Aveyard 0447 242 474 coordinator@upperlachlanlandcare.org.au

Presentations will be made by;
Richard Moffit from Next Rural discussing farm and business succession. The transition process and how to get started. The importance of this process for all generations and typical scenarios and traps to be wary of.
Stephen Carroll asking 'Mental Illness or Mental Health'? Stephen is a psychotherapist, credentialed mental health nurse & counselor. With many years of practical experience living and working with regional and rural communities.
TBA discussing good physical health and the overlap with overall health. "Why is it that we ensure our cars and machinery are fueled and serviced properly, yet we run ourselves below optimum levels? Like a car that is not well fueled and serviced, we don't run efficiently and run the risk of breaking down".
When: Friday 15th September
Where: Crookwell Memorial Hall
Cost: $5 payable at the door, or Free for Landcare members (membership available on the day)

Grazing for Growth in the Upper Lachlan
On Wednesday the 27th of September the ULL Grazing for Growth group is holding an area grazing meeting at Kenneth Wheelwright property "Roslyn Estate" Roslyn.
This is a great opportunity to talk about the current season and what strategies we are using to match stocking rate to carrying capacity on our landscapes.
Also what management practices have worked well during this frosty winter and what are we planning for spring.
It's great to share information in a group.
There will also be some discussions on a Landcare bus trip to another area in November.
After the meeting if you would like to join us we will be having a meal at the Top Pub in Crookwell like we did last time.
It's a great opportunity for a catch up.
Please invite anyone you think might like to join us for the afternoon and evening.
Timetable;
Start: "Roslyn Estate" at 1pm
I will bring along some afternoon tea.
Finish around 4.30pm

Both meetings will cover similar content (with the exception of the session on water infrastructure). We offer 2 options to try and suit different schedules and locations.
We will be discussing the current grazing conditions and strategies that have worked well. We will explore options to best capitalise on rainfall events and discuss more reliable stock water systems for the longer term.
The third year of drought is when many grazing managers can feel fatigued with the seemingly relentless challenges. Grazing management decisions that consider our emotional, environmental and economic wellbeing for the short, medium & long term can help put control, and relief, back in the grazier’s hands.

ALL WELCOME!
All are welcome to Upper Lachlan Landcare’s June 2022 meeting;
Starting at 5.30pm we will hear an update of all that has been happening in Landcare locally, since our last meeting in early April.
We are then, very excited to be hosting CSIRO Scientists Dr Senani Karunaratne and Mark Glover who will be exploring the factors influencing Carbon emissions and containment on local properties.
Do you run a grazing enterprise?
Are you managing your property for increased biodiversity?
Whatever your priority, being aware of the practices and activities that influence your carbon footprint balance sheet is the first step to decreasing your carbon emissions and increasing your carbon sequestration. Please join us for this insightful discussion.
