2021 – 2022 Activity Report

Over The Last 12 Months, Dr Tony Saunders has been carrying out the ongoing Scarlet Robin Survey on 2 properties on the Foggs Crossing Rd, Bigga.  This is a Great Eastern Ranges K2W Project.

March 2022 White Box, Yellow Box & Blakley’s Red Gum trees were planted with tree guards.  These were planted on 2 properties along Foggs Crossing Rd, Bigga.  This is a Upper Lachlan Landcare Superb Parrot Habitat Restoration project funded by NSW Department of Environment Saving our Species program.

May 2022 Habitat Innovation installed 10 Polypropionate Glider Habitech nest boxes on “The Angle” Foggs Crossing Rd, Bigga.  This was a partnership project with K2W Glideways and Upper Lachlan Landcare.  Some of these nest boxes have Reconex game cameras on them and within a week recorded gliders investigating.

August 2022 Tim Hayes & Bob Galland from the Australian Plants Society, Southern Tablelands Group visited to assess opportunities for Eucalypt seed collection. Also Kurrajong, River She Oak, Cyprus Pine and other understorey species.  To date two native plant species, not previously recorded on the area have been found.  In a trial propagation run with 5 species of Eucalypt, the River Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) collected in the Foggs Crossing area on the Lachlan River gave the best results.

Foggs Crosssing/Grabine area has been plagued with feral pigs and goats.  Control methods are ongoing, with the help of ULSC & LLS
